The Distinguished Lecture 2016, Residential College

Event Time:
Multi-Purpose Hall, Residential College
The Noble prize has celebrated its 100 years anniversary and it is a mature institution. Contemporary with the first modern Olympic Games, the first conferment of the prizes was a plunge into unknown. Sound principles for evaluation and some luck in choosing excellent early recipients has made the prize into what it is today, the equivalent of an Olympic Gold in science. Just like for the Olympics, there are challenges ahead for the Nobel Prize. This talk will address some of the key features of success of the prize and some future challenges.
