From October 9 to October 11, 2016, the Residential College held several meetings for students to communicate directly with dean Lap-Chee Tsui. According to students’ appointment, the dean held several meetings with students, discussing many interesting topics, such as professional interests, personal development, extra-curricular activities etc. Dean also shared a lot about his research days, his social experiences as well as his actions supporting the student societies as the president of HKU.

Giorgio, an international student, wishes to do research regarding illegal immigrants in Italy from Qingtian, Wenzhou. Dean enthusiastically offered him some help and even contacted some local people for him. Knowing the desire of the representatives from the Residential College Student Committee to learn about the operating mechanisms of residential college student committee in HKU, Dean shared his understanding of how the student societies in HKU organized their activities and offered them some useful suggestions.

With an aim to promote the understanding between students and the dean, the meeting held by the residential college was a great opportunity for students to learn more about how life will be in the residential college. The three deans of the residential college will provide help for the students by holding this kind of meeting regularly using their expertise in research, administration and education. Everyone is looking forward to a bright future life at the Residential College.
