Psychological Lecture on "Negative Emotion Dredging and Stress Management during the Epidemic Period"

On April 24, the psychological lecture of "Negative Emotion Relief and Stress Management during the Epidemic Period" was held online. Li Juan, a full-time psychological consultant and lecturer in the Mental Health Education and Counseling Center of Zhejiang University, served as the keynote speaker, giving teachers and students in the international campus a wonderful lecture on how to scientifically relieve negative emotions and self-regulation of pressure during the epidemic.

Learning, job hunting, interpersonal communication, entertainment and leisure... "What are the factors that most affect everyone's mood?" Li Juan first took herself as an example to share the challenges brought by the transition from offline courses to online courses due to the epidemic. "The obstacles of the epidemic have reduced the richness of people's lives, and this uncertainty will actually bring us anxiety or worry." As a result, stress is generated and extended to all aspects of life.

Try or "lie flat"? When people feel stressed, they may subconsciously choose some ways to regulate. What is influencing us? Teacher Li Juan led teachers and students to identify the degree of stress they felt through small tests, and shared several criteria that are easy to master. "When the basic needs of eating and sleeping are different from usual, it may be the physiological presentation of stress, and the physical reaction also interacts with emotion.". The continuous stress reaction will cause inattention, memory loss and other effects on people's cognition and behavior, which is the body's "expression" to us: it is under pressure.

Teacher Li Juan analyzed in detail three kinds of emotional reactions in stress: fear, depression and anxiety through examples. They are also three basic negative emotions common to human beings. Freud once said that "anxiety is the core problem that causes emotional confusion and behavior disorder". How to regulate anxiety and stress? Teacher Li Juan mentioned the "defense mechanism", the subconscious self-protection, "a mature defense mechanism can help us better adapt to and respond to various events."

What are the ways to quickly adjust pressure when you can "use it" in your life? Teacher Li Juan taught us nine practical "tips": pay attention to relaxation, think correctly, face fear squarely, keep moving, attach importance to interpersonal relationships, simplify life, divert attention and deal with it immediately.

A misty rain can last a lifetime. Teacher Li Juan told everyone, "No matter what the epidemic situation or the social environment is, it's great to keep a positive attitude when we keep our normal attention and do well in ourselves."
