Sweet March,the spring’s best month, blooms every thing.On the afternoon of March 8th, the first tree-planting ceremony was held to celebrate the 39th Arbor Day at the east green belts of International Campus, Zhejiang University. There were almost 100 guests attending the ceremony: including the representatives of faculties and students, municipal officials of Haining, staffs of the campus construction headquarter and campus builders who are responsible for the second part of campus project.
Song Yonghua,Executive Vice President of Zhejiang University and Dean of International Campus, addressing the ceremony on the significance of tree-planting with teachers and students, local government leaders and campus builders gave the best wishes to the campus. Mr. Song believed the International Campus would play an important role in promoting Zhejiang University to be ranked among top universities in the world. He also emphasized that it would be a platform for students’ development with the joint efforts of teachers and students. Mr. Song extended warm welcome to the officials of Haining and expressed sincere gratitude to the support by Haining government.
Teachers and students, blown gently by spring breeze, planted various trees such as Camphor tree, Osmanthus tree and Magnolia tree. There is an old saying in China that it takes ten years to grow trees, but a hundred years to cultivate people. These trees will grow with the students and witness a bright future of the campus.
Ying Yibin, Vice President of Zhejiang University and Executive Vice President of International Campus, Zhejiang University, Fu Qiang,Assistant President of Zhejiang University and Vice Dean of the International Campus, Zhejiang University, and Cao Guoliang,Mayor of Haining and members of Haining Municipal Committee also attended the ceremony.
